Dancing Girl

Kaity is spending the morning dancing while I am cleaning and getting ready for Will's birthday pizza party. Fortunately, she's a better dancer than I am. I see ballet lessons in her future.

Smokey Update

I thought it was time for a quick Smokey update. She's calmed down a tiny, tiny bit, but only because she spends a lot of her time outside. I've decided that's best for everyone and we have far fewer scratches and teeth marks on our arms.

Two weeks ago, Smokey discovered she could climb trees. She's trying to be a hunter and the allure of the birds in the trees was too much. Of course, she got stuck and couldn't figure out how to come down. It took several hours, but finally she made it.

The next day, Smokey got stuck in a different tree. This time Will was home and spent the evening in BIG alligator tears because Smokey was gonna starve up there. I assured him that she would come down when she got hungry, but he didn't believe me. He spent the evening with the flash light calling to her until I made him come in for bed. And, wouldn't you know it, the next morning when we got up, she was at the back door.

Smokey is also constantly climbing into stuff. Here she is in my work bag. Unfortunately, it's really hard to get her because she bites (and I was running late), so I just dumped her.

Yesterday, "hunter" Smokey finally caught a bird. She looks like a piece of moss under a tree when she sits really still. The birds must be fairly comfortable with her also (she hasn't caught anything to date) and ignore her most of the time. But, we have an abundance of small birds this year - I think because of all the acorns - and she finally caught one. She brought it to the porch, but then didn't know what to do with it. Hopefully, the birds will wise up to her and keep an eye on where she's at. I like having them around.

Will's Girlfriend

Will apparently has a girlfriend at his school. Her name is Jessica and he HAD to go to the Valentine's Dance Friday night to dance with her. They, of course, didn't dance, but they did play a bunch of games. He likes her because she has the same color hair as him and she looks wonderful. John went to the dance with him. Will had a blast, John did not. Here are Will and Jessica playing a game.

Will also wanted a picture taken of the picture he drew. It's an acorn with a pear inside and ants all around. There's a story he made up to go with it, but now I can't remember it.

The Girl Party

Kaity invited some friends over on Sunday for her "girl" party. It was a blast (literally with the sound volume). We didn't do any games or anything. They just got to play, scream, and eat cake. Here's the entire girl group. Notice Will is NOT in the picture. He wouldn't get close to the gaggle of girls. He spent most of the party outside.

I had been planning to make her cupcakes for awhile and got a cool book, Hello Cupcake, with all kinds of pictures and directions. I made the Pandamonium cupcakes and they turned out pretty well. I only made 9 because they were pretty labor intensive, but they were thoroughly enjoyed by the party goers!

Kaitlyn is telling Kaity something here. It's a pretty funny picture.

I also made these little felt heart bags as goodie bags. It was the first time I got to use my new sewing machine and it was AWESOME! The bags turned out very cute and we'll probably reuse ours as valentine decorations.

On Saturday, Papa and Nana took Kaity shopping at Target for new dresses for her birthday. She picked out several being the fashionista that she is. I also got a very funny call from Papa asking where the tights would be. He never could find the right size, so she got pretty socks instead. While she was there, she spotted the yellow dress below. He already had his quota of dresses he was getting her so they didn't get it then. But, they did come back and get it as a present from Great Granny. It will be perfect for church and Easter. It's long and has poofy stuff under the skirt. She wanted to wear it to school today and I wouldn't let her. This will be a constant battle until she's too big for it. Notice the shoes she's wearing with it. Those would be the velcro hand toss game which apparently double as carpet shoes. She's got a great sense of style. It comes from the Eubanks side of the family.

Kaity's Birthday Weekend

Kaity turned four yesterday. Four! Can you believe it? Where does the time go? We typically celebrate with a famly dinner and then a kid party separately. I can't handle all the people at once, so I have to split it up. Going with the theme of my life lately, I was rather behind the ball on planning and inviting. But, it worked out great. Saturday night, we had the family over (Papa and Nana, Uncle Drue and Aunt Lisa, Uncle Scot, Aunt Erin and soon-to-be Uncle Luke). I forgot to call and invite Erin until 8:30 Saturday morning, so that was last minute planning for her also. I made spaghetti and meatballs which Kaity wouldn't eat any of because it was the last meal she had before the awful stomach bug back in December. But, she was really too excited to eat anyways.

Out of all the people that came Saturday night, we only got a picture of Luke. Maybe cause he's not officially in the family yet? Have to document before he becomes part of the craziness.

We had LOTS of cake this weekend. This is the funfetti cake and one of the most awful renditions of Happy Birthday we've ever done. And, the Eubanks family are masters at awful singing.

She, of course, had to be a princess all evening. We played Princess Kaity and she gave orders quite well. She also got some fun stuff to play with and leave all over the house.
