I turned 28 last Friday and had a great weekend! Last week, my co-worker, Kim, Alli and I headed to Ft. Lauderdale for a tropical plant show. It was for work, but felt like a mini-vacation - beach, nice weather, good company. John had asked earlier in the week what I wanted for my birthday. I had said a shirt or something. He teased me about it the whole time we were down south. I've also been wanting a bicycle and mentioned that but didn't think he'd actually get me one. So, we got back late Friday night. John had kept the kids up to say happy birthday to me. I wasn't even out of the car when Kaity yelled from the porch:
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY! WE GOT YOU A BICYCLE!"
So much for the suprise. She took me inside and yelled "TA DA." John did great. He even got the right size (I ride a girls bike on account of my short legs). Here's a picture of the one he got me.
On Saturday, I decided it was time for a girls shopping trip. I haven't been shopping with a girlfriend in forever, so I took Kaity and stopped and picked up my friend Becky and we headed to the mall. First stop was Toys R Us. Kaity's birthday is in two weeks and she really wants a bicycle also. I wasn't sure what size to get her so we had her try them all out. She fit on the cute pink 12 inch. It was the last one they had, so I got it and I'm storing it in Becky and Nate's garage.
Next stop was the mall - Bath and Body Works soap, Victoria's Secret underwear, and an Ann Taylor Loft dress. Overall, I very successful and girly shopping trip.
That evening, we had planned a trip to The Yearling restaurant in Cross Creek for an adult dinner with our friends Billy and Lorall and Becky and Nate. The Yearling is famous for old Florida dishes such as frog legs, shrimp, quail, gator tail, and many other fried delicacies. We tried an array of dishes. It also always has live music. We sat in the back room where they had a bluegrass band. In the front room was Willie Green. He's pretty famous and enjoy his music a little bit more. We stood and watched him for awhile. Here's a picture of him.
Yesterday, Will got to spend the day with his friend Jack. John took Kaity to school and Alli and I went to see 27 Dresses at noon. It was a fun chick flick. I picked Kaity up early and tried to take her to the library, but it was closed for MLK day. The library we picked was an early voting location, so she did get to vote with me.
Overall, it was a great weekend and I'm sad to see it end.
